Honey Walnut Shrimp

Batter for shrimp

  • 1 C. All Purpose Flour
  • 1 T. Baking Powder
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 C. Milk or Water
  • 1 lb. L, X-large or Jumbo Shrimp (peeled & deveined)

Sauce

  • 1 T. Condensed Milk
  • 1/4 C. Mayonnaise
  • 1 T. Honey
  • 1 t. Lemon juice

Walnuts glaze
  • 2 T. Sugar
  • 1 T. Water
  • 1 t. Honey
  • 1/2 - 1 C. walnuts (Optional)

This recipe is simple & easy if you have everything ready. First whisk your batter for your shrimp till its really smooth and no lumps. If your shrimp is peeled and deveined and tail off then go ahead and add it to your batter and mix till all your shrimp is coated. Then mix your sauce in a small bowl until smooth and set aside.
In a wok or medium size frying pan, heat 2-3 cups of canola oil on med.-high heat 340-360 deg. When your oil is ready, using your tongs put in 1 shrimp at a time about 8 shrimp per batch in your pan and fry them until golden brown on both sides. Once their golden brown take them out w/a slotted spoon and keep them in a paper towled dish till their all done.

Dump the oil out and with the same pan mix your 2 T. of sugar, 1 T. water, and 1 teaspoon of honey in the pan until sugar dissolves and caramelizes for a minute. I personally don't like the walnuts but if you do go ahead and put the walnuts in your pan coating it w/the sugar mix and then your fried shrimp tossing it w/the walnuts as well. If your not going to do the walnuts then just toss the shrimp w/the sugar mixture till coated and then pour your mayonnaise sauce on the shrimp and toss till each shrimp is evenly coated and heat through for about 1 minute. Turn the heat off and serve with rice or noodles. Enjoy :)01 02 03
