General Tso's Chicken

  • 1/2 C. Chicken Stock
  • 4 T. Sugar
  • 4 T. Vinegar
  • 2 T. Hoison Sauce
  • 2 T. Sesame Oil
  • 2 t. Cornstarch
  • 2 T. Dark soy sauce (Opt.)
  • Green onions, chopped (2-3 stems)
  • 2-3 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1/2 t. Ginger
  • 2 eggs whisked
  • Flour
  • Canola Oil
  • 2 lbs Chicken Breast

First you want to cut up your chicken breasts into bite size pieces and mix well in a bowl w/your whisked eggs. Heat about 2-3 cups of oil in a wok or deep frying pan on med-high heat or to 375-400 deg. Then in a seperate dish w/your flour toss your chicken pieces till evenly coated. When your oil is ready go ahead and put your chicken pieces in and fry it until its golden brown and cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Depending on how big your pan is you can fit all of your chicken in and fry it in one batch or a couple batches at a time. After you have fryed all the chicken & put it in a paper-toweled dish, set it aside.

In a small bowl mix the cornstarch, sugar, vinegar, hoison, sesame oil, and chicken stock well, and set aside. In your wok or frying pan make sure the oil from frying the chicken is poured out, after that heat up 2 T. oil in your pan and saute your garlic, green onions, and ginger. Pour in the sauce mixture and let it thicken up for 1-2 min. Turn off the heat and add your fryed chicken pieces. Toss the chicken & sauce till all the pieces are evenly coated.  Eat it w/hot rice or chow mein noodles and enjoy ;)01 02 03
